Ganzi, West Sichuan (traditionally known as Garze or Kandze, Kham, Tibet)
Garze is a native Tibetan town, and makes up part of the Kham Province of traditional Tibet.
It's Chinese name is Ganzi and has been re-zoned to be a part of Sichuan province by the PRC. It is an extremely remote place, tucked away beyond treacherous mountain terrain. It is a wonderful place to travel to experience the land and culture of Tibetan people.
Left: A map indicating traditional Tibetan places.
Right: Re-zoning by the PRC splits traditional Tibet
into many other provinces. Central Tibet being the official TAR (Tibetan Autonomous Region) and
Eastern Tibet (Kham) being predominantly in Sichuan province.
Note: The blue dots indicates the same place: Garze or Kandze (Tib.), Ganzi (Chn.).
